popeye2755 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Odd A/C behaviour: At idle speed, the vent temp will drop to approx. 6 degrees with an ambient of about 18. As soon as you set off driving, the vent temp increases to almost ambient. The rad fans are workng fine, does anyone know of a cure? Ta Quote
seatkid Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Have you had it regassed? It may be overfilled and the 3 way pressure switch is cutting it out on over pressure. Quote
popeye2755 Posted August 8, 2007 Author Report Posted August 8, 2007 Not been regassed. Anyone any ideas? Quote
Bigjeeze Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Could be a dodgy clutch on the compressor - failing under pressure? Firstly as Seatkid says do some checks - possibly electrical but more likely a leak somewhere - Mt Air COn recently died - it was fine at low revs but eventually petered out - Then I got the dreaded flashing display and the fans stopped. popeye2755 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Result! Car has been to Main Dealer, and this time they found a leak on the high pressure switch. Hopefully this will be the end of the problem..... Quote
adrianf. Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Or just the start of them if its been to main dealer Good luck. Quote
popeye2755 Posted August 14, 2007 Author Report Posted August 14, 2007 You could be right! They forgot to reconnect the MAF, it was like driving a tractor....... 10 minutes back at dealer and all sorted with an apology. A/C is working really well, managed to acheive a vent temp of 2.8C with an ambient of 20C. Time will tell..... Quote
michaelbradford Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Hi my air con has been off - had it checked and they said it was full didnt need re-gassing - how can I check clutch electrics and what fuses thanks Quote
mumof4 Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 welcome michael.........might be better to start a thread about your clutch etcc.....you can do this in the trainee section. Quote
Boozynights Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Mights also be worth you looking here: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=2227 I found it very useful with my aircon problem - which still exists  Quote
popeye2755 Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 Bugger! Driving through a storm today, the wipers stopped. (The main dealer also replaced the wiper linkage at the same time as sorting the A/C). Called out the RAC, who managed to sort it out at the roadside. Apparently, the dealer had forgotten to tighten up the clamp(?) that attaches the linkage to the motor. Thank god I wasn't overtaing a dirty big truck on the motorway when it happened. Quote
