NikpV Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I have a similar problem, whilst cruising down the Mway today my glow plug lights start flashing and after about 5 mins stopped, can anybody enlighten as to the reason for this?? intermittent problems with brake switch ? Quote
caiss4 Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Inclined to agree with Nikpv's comment regarding Mike48t's problem. Just recently replaced the foot brake switch after having problems selecting drive (auto). On two occasions the glow plug light flashed for several minutes whilst driving (ecu fault) and then went out; no apparent problems with the engine itself.Since replacing the switch have had no re-occurrence. As for muppetofdoom looks like it's a bona fide engine issue. Quote
big_kev Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 i'm lead to believe this means i need to get the ecu checked out ? It is almost certainly not a fault with the ECU ( they are pretty much indestructible ). It indicates that the ECU is basically unhappy, not necessarily faulty. As Nik stated the usual culprit is the Brake Switch ( you will have 2 of these ) cant remember if its the Blue or Black one that causes the problem, easy enough to take them both out to check them. Other likely cause is the ignition relay, plenty of posts on this. Quote
