Hi All,

I have noticed that sometimes the Gal feels like it has a CVT multitronic gearbox !

EG....there is only one gear....the revs dont seem to drop and rise much when acclerating.

Then sometimes you can feel the the gears and the revs droping ?

Could this be the cluth on the way out?

Help much appreciated.

Your sig says you have an Auto.If so then I wouldnt be too worried about your clutch but I would start to be concerned about your gearbox.Make sure you have enough Auto transmission fluid in your gearbox.Dont know how to check on Galaxy but on my other car there is a seperate dipstick in the engine bay. Also when was the last time the fluid was changed?

When I developed a leak in the Auto transnmission cooling pipes (in my other car) the gearbox started to "search" for gears and then nothing.ATF is usually red in colour.

The Galaxy Autobox has a torque convertor and not a clutch. Torque convertors "slip" and provide torque multiplication over a range of revs. Its normal for the torque convertor to give the impression of a constant engine speed whilst initially accellerating from a standstill. But you should hear a drop in revs when the gearbox changes gear. On a worn gearbox the gear changes may be slow and slurred adding to the constant revs impression.

If you are concernced, and if your gearbox has seen arduous service or has done a large mileage you should consider changing the oil. Unfortunately this is both a difficult and expensive exercise - there is no dipstick - and it does not use "red atf" but a rather special and expensive fluid only available from dealers.

The Jatco auto boxes have proven to be unreleliable in this application, and "cooked" oil is common.

There is plenty of info on auto gearbox problems and checking or changing oil - use the forum search.
