smoothy Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Guys I have an 03 Galaxy with factory fitted Sat Nav and DVD Multimedia. The original owners took out the CD player and therefore I have just had a new 'non ford' head unit fitted. Unfortunately the DVD will now not work because of the lack of power. Looked at the back and they there seems to be a Ford Connection. Any ideas what I can do? I am due to go on a motoring holiday and have 3 kids to keep entertained. I badly need this dvd working. Many thanks in advance. Quote
BrianFX04 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Hi seems like you might need a patch lead to sort your power problem out,was an iso adapter lead used to install your new audio unit? it might be worth looking at an audio lead spealist try,www.autoleads.co.uk.Hope this helps Quote
smoothy Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Brian Thanks for that. I actually had it professionally fitted as I am quite a simpleton when it comes to th etechnical aspect of things. I can tell you that it is a Panasonic CQ-C5303N head unit if that helps? Your time is greatly appreciated. Quote
BrianFX04 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 Hi me again might be a daft question but have you checked with your fitter to see if he checked the sat nav operation? it also might be worth doing a google for car audio leads as i know there are some leads not made by auto leads. I know that when i have fitted replacement audio units to other makes of cars some do need patch leads. hope you have success in getting it sorted Quote
smoothy Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Brian Thanks again.. I know the Sat Nav worked prior to it being taken out. As i said i have swapped it for the new head unit, (purchased a mobile sat nav). There is power getting to the 12 volt power supply that is in the middle of the dvd unit. Is this normal? I will google audio leads Quote
steve67car Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 if the new unit has not had the electric aerial lead fitted into the ford loom it cannot turn on the system as it is also the trigger to the multimedia pack as well advise you ask the so call professional to do his job properly (but in a nice and non patronising way)hope this is of some help Quote
steve67car Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 p.s hope the professional in your case aint halfraudsp.s what part the country you in ? Quote
smoothy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Steve Thanks for that. No it is not Halfords. It was a cmpany in Thorpe Bay, Essex. Quote
