Flippy Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Hi First off let me say that this page is very nice. I was searching google for my problem and stumbled across this site. Have search quite a bit here but cant seem too find a simmular problem to mine. All though i found a couple of other nice treads  Your have to excuse my English as i am from Norway. My Galaxy is a 2000mod 1.9tdi Not sure if its MK1 or MK2 (how can i find this out?) I was trying to install my DEFA car alarm as i had allready done on my old ford escort. And had hocked it up to two wires that change haveing 12v if the door is locked or unlocked. I managed to get the car alarm to lock and unlock the driver door where i had hocked up te wires, but it did not lock or unlock any of the other doors (exept the fule intake). I the thought that i had made a mistake and that this car could not be wired in the same way as my old car. But my suprise was that now i am unable to control the other 4 doors of my car. I can manually lock them and unlock but the central locking wont to it. If i try to use the key on the passenger side it doesnt do anything at all, except for unlocking that door. Could i have destroied the central locking or would it not work at all if that where the case? If i need to give you some more information please let me know. Thanx Helge Rath Norway :) Quote
insider Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 My Galaxy is a 2000mod 1.9tdi Not sure if its MK1 or MK2 (how can i find this out?) Probably Mk II but check here - http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...mp;#entry112432 Quote
mumof4 Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 As insider pointed out, look at the link...quick was is to look at the front grill...if the Ford badge is sat on its on in the middle..it is a MKII..if it has a line going either side...it is a MKI.( well its how i told my kids to spot the diff from the front.lol) Quote

Firstly, determine which model Galaxy you have. Now, remove the wires you connected from the alarm to the door lock wiring, i.e. return them to the original condition before you added the alarm.Does the central locking work OK on all doors now? If not, then you might have damaged something. If not, what colour wires did you connect the alarm to? If they are black/red or green/yellow or green/blue then it could explain why only the driver's door and fuel filler cap were affected. What signal is the alarm wire supplying? I assume it would be 12v when the alarm is activated and 0v when it is not? Quote
Flippy Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 Well it has lines going both ways so it seems its a MK1. I have disconnected the wires and put it back to the way it was before, Ill have to take of the side cover down by the foot again to see what color the wires was. Ill get back to you. BTW i found a guide on how do remove the door cover for MK2... now that it seems that i have MK1 is there a guide for it to? BTW2 There is no water under any of the front seats. Quote
insider Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 I have disconnected the wires and put it back to the way it was beforeIs the central locking working OK now then? Ill have to take of the side cover down by the foot again to see what color the wires was. Ill get back to you.The wire colours I mentioned earlier were for the Mk 2 which uses a different system. When you let me know the colour you connected to I should be able to work it out. Quote
Flippy Posted August 2, 2007 Author Report Posted August 2, 2007 The wires i have connected to are green and blue and black and red. The DEFA alarm sends a puls of 12v to the green and blue for open and the same to the black and red for close (or was it vise versa) I get the DEFA alarm to lock and unlock that door but none of the other doors work at alt. I have disconnectd my wirering but it is still not working. My best guess is that the DEFA puls killed the C/L or i have accedentally riped one of the wires inside the door. Cant get that da.. door cover off the check it :) ps thanx for your effort in helping me  Quote
insider Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) I don't think the voltage pulses would have damaged the C/L module because it would see those voltages normally anyway. So, hopefully you'll be able to get it going again by checking for damage to the wiring. When you do get it going again I think you need to connect to the yellow and yellow/black wires - pins 4 and 10 on the connector. (You were connected to pins 8 and 11). Sorry - just noticed that you were connecting in the door not at the fuse box. You would have been connected to pins 3 and 5 on this connector but need to connect to pins 2 and 9 - also yellow and yellow/black wires. To remove the door panel:1. Prise out and remove the window switch panel. Disconnect the multiplug. 2. Prise out and remove the door lamp. Disconnect the multiplug. 3. Prise out (from the centre) and remove the door latch bezel.4. Remove the retaining screw. CAUTION: Start with the clip at the bottom of the outside edge of the panel and then carefully release the remaining retaining clips.5. Remove the door trim panel (11 clips). Flippy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 hehehehe. 2. Prise out and remove the door lamp. Disconnect the multiplug. Im not sure what u mean by this? A lamp as in light? I cant remeber any ligt. But i did not remove the window control nor the door latch bezel. So if i get those removed i guess ill get it done Quote
insider Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 Depends on the model - Ghias have (red) door lamps in the bottom outside edge. You might just have a reflector or nothing at all in which case you could ignore that step. Quote
Flippy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Ok. Thanx. The door latch thing is devided into two parts. One small and one big. Im guessing its the small one that comes off? And about the window control. Would you recomend starting at the top or at the bottom. Im asking this as iv had some bit of experience with opening doors on previous cars and have almost every time managed to break something. Well thank you very mutch for your help and i will repost back as soon as i have fixed it :( Quote

insider Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 Can't post attachments at the moment for some reason, otherwise you'd have a diagram. Anyway it is the connector in the bottom-right corner - 12 pins (2 rows of 6) - of the board with fuses 51-62 in a row on the opposite side. Quote
mumof4 Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 If the attachment is larger than 2mb i think it is..then it wont load. Quote
Flippy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 (edited) Thanks ill go right out to the car and see if i can see that. But. I have now gotten my door open and found two plugs that has to do with the C/L one plug with 3 pins (Green, Brown/White and Blue) and another with 6 pins (Green/Blue, Green/Yellow, Red/White, Yellow, Yellow/Blue and i think Brown/White) so Brown white seems to be negative or ground. But as you can see there are not any Yellow/black wires. BTW if you want to send pictures you could mail them to me at flippy (at) gudd dot no edit... just ignore the first plug i mentioned. Was just all wrong colors Edited August 3, 2007 by Flippy Quote
Flippy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Well i found the plug you mentioned. And there was a yellow and black wire there ???? I have checked the plugs that are in the door that has to do with the C/L and there are no yellow/black wires there. If i get the locks working again i will just connect in the fusebox lol. The plug was P5 right? Quote
Flippy Posted August 3, 2007 Author Report Posted August 3, 2007 Only god knows what happened, but i fiddled around in there. And i checked my manual and saw that there were two fuses that had to do with C/L i found one that was a 5amp and that was ok. But when i was going to check for nr 12 a 15amp one it was missing. I CANT REMEMER REMOVING IT. Well i had a 15 amp fuse laing around and put that in there. Tryed the lock again and still did not work. Then i held in the button that switches the light on and off and IT WORKED!!! Just dont ask why. LOL Anyway want to thank everybody who tryed to help me isolate the problem. If it had not been for you i would probably have had to bring the gal in for service and spent a lot off money on it. Once again thanks to everyone and i have to say i love this forum :( Quote
