Transponder Key

Hi, just got my wife our first ever MPV, a lovely (not so) little Ford Galaxy Zetec 2.3 auto 2000 (V reg.) model.

I say it's for the wife (as her name appears on the V5), but I have to admit, I have been hogging it since we got it over the weekend!

It's a lovely drive, so different to all other Fords I have driven.

Anyway, enough rambling...

 

HELP!!

 

We only got one transponder key with the car. I phoned Dagenham Ford to find out how much for another one...I almost fainted when they told me,

You should be able to programme up to 4 remote keys for the same car using this procedure:

Thanks for that info insider.

 

However, that only covers programming the remote (if I understood it correctly), what about programming the transponder as well?

 

Also, I was a bit confused with regards to the number of keys required to perform DIY programming, do you actually need TWO keys or can you get away with one?

I thought it was the same thing (on Mk II anyway). Is yours a facelifted version or one of the last Mk Is? Perhaps the procedure is different for them?

Sorry, I have no idea whether it is a Mk1 or Mk2. Date of manufacture on the V5 is Jan. 2000, if that helps?

 

I shall give your instructions a go and report back on the results.

you can buy a remote key fob from ebay(just make sure it has the same code as your own key!!),hopefully the remote key will come with a transponder chip,then also buy a horseshoe blank,get it cut(at timpsons)then follow the instructions(if they apply to your version) .hth.

Based on the pics, mine is a Mk1.
