ronz Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 (edited) Hi, For a 1.9tdi Mk2 Galaxy 2001 dual mass flywheel How easy/difficult is it to replace the flywheel, if anyone can offer advice, instructions/photos that would be great. I really need to do this urgently as i'm out of wheels at the moment. Many thanks Edited July 26, 2007 by ronz Quote
seatkid Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 You need to get a Ford TIS CD. Illustrated instructions ther I think. Quote
ronz Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 Thanks Seatkid, I have the CD its useless, was looking for expert's advice it seems to be a common problem. I didn't realise how bad the probelm i have is until I went to a car place that had exactly the same car. I got them to turn the car on, popped the bonnet and couldn't belive my eyes mine is f*****. Its so expensive to get the problem fixed is it likely that something else will have gone I don't want to fork out all that money only to find out something else is wrong. Quote
ronz Posted August 1, 2007 Author Report Posted August 1, 2007 I had my flywheel replaced over the weekend, the shaking and sound on startup has disappeared. Drove it a a long way, it seems like when i press the gas on high speed it accelerates then goes slower slightly, difficult to discribe its like waves. Also, something seems to be missing a big gap there, there's a plastic pipe sticking out of the car on the right hand side on the passenger side behind the coolant tank and fuel filter, is this normal, it seems to be dripping water?! I had a similar experience and thought it might have something to do with the dual mass flywheel (http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=10708&st=0&p=85960entry85960). The car itself continued to accelerate but I could see the engine revs going up and down "like waves" as you describe even though the accelerator was in the same position. I thought it might be the dual mass flywheel oscillating? Quote
ronz Posted August 1, 2007 Author Report Posted August 1, 2007 i hope its not the flywheel, I just had a new one fitted which cost Quote
Bigjeeze Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 Also, something seems to be missing a big gap there, there's a plastic pipe sticking out of the car on the right hand side on the passenger side behind the coolant tank and fuel filter, is this normal, it seems to be dripping water?! That may be the Air Con drain - Air Con always drips water when in use. Quote
johnswlondon Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 are you sure the problem is the flywheel and not the crankshaft position sensor?a lot cheaper to fix! Quote
