OK peeps, need a bit of help here.I have to get quotes on storage of all my worldly possession for around 3 months..though this amount of time is not set in stone. They have to pick up..store then take to where ever i get rehoused which could be anywhere and any time.

I have spent all afternoon ringing companies up for quotes. This is the first time im having to deal with removal companies myself.

So far i have been quoted from 300 to 695 for pick up..(everything already packed up).

for storage for around 3 months..is anything from 150 a month to 85 a week

delivery is from anywhere between 300 and 495.

My head is boggling here..i have to get as many quotes as i can in as short as space of time that i can.Basically..i have been told i have 48 hours to get quotes, i was told this less than an hour ago whereas last fri i was told i had a week.

Does anyone know of any reputable companies??..all i know are Pickfords, F and N...And a couple of others

Also i need tips on prepareing everything for storage...from pictures to furniture...as on pick up everything has to be ready to go straight into storage.

Im asking here as i may not think of everything that i need to do.

As always your help is very much appreciated.

Marian.

If you don't mind me asking.

1. Who's paying?

2. Is your stuff worth more than 2k?

Is it possible you could sell up and buy later (carboot/ebay etc)

1.Not me....an application is being made to the Benevolent fund.

2.YUp

3.No, i am in forces accomodation under notice to Vacate, and i cant just sell everything as it would cost more to replace than i would get in selling. When i leave here, it will not be into my own place.I can only take what i can fit into the car, hence storage needed.

Ooh..... I can't think of anything other than Yellow Pages. I would think most removal people provide crates and boxes and possibly bubblewrap too. Maybe it would be a good time to declutter and throw out the junk.

Moving is one of the most stressful events in life  .....take it easy.......breathe deeply and keep smiling

Who moved you last time? did they do a good job? are they still around?

Pickfords and the like sell the brand and not the service these days,

Boxes, go to your local grocers or the like and ask them if they can keep boxes for you smaller shops will do this as they pay for bins to be emptied.

get as much bubble wrap as possible again this could be gained from local retailers, its just having the nerve to go and ask them all.

Could even go around the local industrial estates and ask for boxes the do not need.

Most removal companies charge for boxes and then have the cheek to ask for them back now you dont need them.

If you have some friends who can help why not go to pne of those storage companies that let you store stuff for a fixed fee - Then if you hire a van you can move it yourself - It should drop th eprice down to a few hundreds.
