looking thru some old posts and not being able to find my book ,can it be confimed that a cambelt change on a tdi gal is 40,000

Welcome piperdog, you will get a much more qualified answer if you add the age to your vehicle details.......the answer depends on this :angry:

replying to my own forum if its pre june2000 its 60,000,if its post its 40,000

this was quoted for a tdi by allen ford

TDi engine post 2000my cambelt AND tensioner change every 40,000 miles.

It seems that VW (who make the Galaxy) don't give a set interval for the cambelt ontheir engines. Most data books tell you to change the first belt at 60k then check the belt every 20k.

:rolleyes: see top of page 17 in warranty and service guide...................

 

"CAMSHAFT DRIVE BELT"......Renew,PT-E,CVH,Galaxy diesel (every 5 years or 40 000miles,whichever occurs first)

 

a date (08/2001) is shown on the back of the booklet,perhaps your's is an earlier print?
