unlimited5 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Hi, I have a 1997 Galaxy ghia X 2.8 V6 Auto and it drives 1st class. The problem is with the reverse gear. When I select reverse it engages but will only creep slowly backwards, reving the engine make little or no difference to it. I was wondering whether an oil change may cure it or is it more serious? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Quote
unlimited5 Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 I have a 97 P Galaxy 2.8 V6 automatic and I have just put a second hand gearbox into it. It seems to drive ok but if you accelerate a little too quickly from a standing start it seems to change into second gear with high revs and then a loud clunk. I suspect it may be the gearbox fluid level or maybe the mounting bush as stated in some other postings but I was just wondering if this might be the case PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP?? Quote

Took it to my local ford dealer and they didnt have a clue asked them if changing the gear oil would help and they said "we dont get involved with that" similar reply to "computer says no"!! Would changing the oil help ? Quote
dipsomaniac Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 the first thing to check (and cheapest) is the transmission fluid levels - it is crucial that it is the right level and can cause all sorts of weird bangs and symptoms if not right. Quote
