zeVan Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 Hi,I own Galaxy 2001 2.8 Ghia without auxilliary aircon. My aircon unit was flashing from the time I bought my Galaxy. Local dealer said there was a leak somewhere. So I went to aircon specialists and they repaired it . Now I have a cool air in a car, but aircon unit is still flashing. So I went to a dealer again. They say they haven't found any fault codes! I said - "OK, but why then aircon unit is flashing? As I know it indicates fault in aircon sistem." And they said - "There was some modifications of that unit. In fact when you start engine, aircon system is doing self-test; there is no pressure in system when starting the unit - that's why it flashes". I had nothing to say because I don't know if there are really some modifications of aircon unit. I feel they are saying nonsence. But I haven't found any info about that in TIS or ELSA. So I have some questions: 1. Is there such a modification of aircon unit as I was told?2. Is it possible that unit is flashing and there are no fault codes? Quote
mumof4 Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 No idea//My CC panel always flashed for 10 secs or so..just needed a regas..though i never got it done as it still worked ok. Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Just for comparison, mine flashed when I had a leak and stopped when it was fixed and it's a later version than yours so 'modification' seems unlikely. As far as I can tell, if the pressure is low, then it flashes. It is possible to have gas in which will provide pressure the stop the flashing and get the pump solenoid to pull in but not enough to get the aircon working, but yours is working so it may well be that there is an element of truth in what they say. If it is still working some time after a repair or regas it is unlikely that you have a leak so there is probably nothing serious. It may be worth getting the system checked but,to do it properly, it has to be completely drained and refilled with a measured amount of gas. There seems to be a reasonably standard charge of about Quote
El Dingo Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 IIRC it flashes for high pressure as well as low pressure. Quote
seatkid Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 The unit has NOT been modified to flash on start up...bulls***The garage is fobbing you off, there is a fault but they don't know how to analyse it. Athough the usual cause is low gas pressure, it can also flash for several other reasons i.e. high presure, temperature sensor fault, flap position fault etc etc. IIRC some of these faults must be cleared by diagnostics. You may not have an active fault, but the fault is logged (could be an intermittent fault) It's a long shot but disconnect your battery for 5 minutes (after you check you have the radio code!). It may reset the fault. Quote
big_kev Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 Seatkid is correct ( as usual ) Mine never used to flash ( until on of the flaps started sticking ). It clearly indicates a fault and requires investigating.....dependant on cost of investigation! The garage is lying ( as usual ). Quote

supersoda45 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 If the unit was repaired and regassed by a non 'fraud' dealer they may not have cleared the fault codes generated from the fault which is now fixed. Even if a fault is fixed it will still flash until the fault code is cleared apparently. Take it back to the dealers who told you there is no fault and ask if they have cleared all the fault codes from the system if they haven't (They do forget as my local dealer inchcrap ford did!!!) get them to do it. If it still flashes after clearing the codes then there IS a fault if the dealers still say there is no fault demand to see a print out of the diagnostic report, by law they can't refuse to show you. Here's a tip for you to give you some ammo to fire at arrogant dealers who think they can fob off innocent people, if you have a laptop -Invest approx Quote
El Dingo Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 Just remember that Ross Tech isn't a charity, and I hope that enough people buy the legit licence to keep them in business.I'm not criticising the download or the copy cable by the way. That's cool. This is good stuff though, and if you can afford it, buy a licence! :o Quote
supersoda45 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) Good point El Dingo,I am going to register my 'free' copy of vag-com next week as the exchange rate is good at the moment being $99 dollars to register making it only Edited July 17, 2007 by supersoda45 Quote

zeVan Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 Hi, The story continues :rolleyes:When winter came and temperature fell below 5C, all windows started misting up. When A/C is on - everything is OK. Yesterday I received my vag-com cable and found this fault: 01596 - Motor for Outside/Recirculated Air Flap (V154) 35-00 - - As I understand, windows are misting up because this motor is not functioning and air is always recirculated in the car. Is it dufficult to get to this motor to check it? I guess I will need to remove all the dash panel for that... Quote
