Galaxy 1.9TDi 110 1998

Three weeks back now, we were driving on the motorway and there was a loss of power followed by a heck of a lot of smoke. I pulled over, turned off the ignition, but the engine carried on running at high revs with smoke billowing out.

Not knowing the problem, we legged it and left it running like that for a while.

After being rescued and towed to a garage they removed the Turbo unit and said it needed replacing, so I sourced a good second hand unit and fitted it myself.

We started the engine on idle for a while, but after revving up a bit more the engine again started giving out white smoke, and carrying on running after switching off, but just for a short while.

Any suggestions as to the problem now? I geuss having the engine running at high revs burning oil has damaged something else, but I do not have enough knowledge to work out what! Could it be head gasket, a piston, or just a sensor clogged up somewhere?

I am running out of cash and need the car desperately, so any help would be greatly recieved.

Thanks,

Richard
