Guest gemineye Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Hi, recently the glow plug symbol lit up when i was driving, along with this the rear (high) brake light stayed on like a third rear light, it was coming on as the brake light as well, and the normal brake lights were working ok. Now the glow plug symbol has stopped flashing when driving(phew), but when i press the brakes the rh side front parking/side light goes on as well. This is all after i changed a couple of rear stop bulbs and front side bulbs, i know this may have been covered before, but any suggestions please, Tom. Quote
seatkid Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Check you fitted the rear rh brake bulb correctly (and with the right type, a combined brake/side lamp) - sounds as if the brake/side light contacts are shorted together which can happen if the bulb is twisted 90 degrees. Quote
Guest gemineye Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Thanks for that mate, Tom. Quote
Dave-G Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 " ;) if the bulb is twisted 90 degrees." :D I think he means 180 degrees  Quote
seatkid Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 No..erm.. 90 degrees, but thinking about it its more likely that a single filament bulb has been fitted instead of a double filament (with single blob instead of double blob on base) Of course you can also get a single filament double blob bulb which looks similar but ... ;) Quote
Guest Ross Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I had something similar a while ago on my car, glow plug light started intermitently flashing, which then triggered the cruise control to fail, followed by a buld warning light on the dash, but as I say it was all intermitent. On getting home I tried to solve the light issue first and noticed there were no rear brake lights, on checking the bulbs were perfect. In the end I needed a replacement rear brake switch, this fitted solved all the issues. I can only presume that the switch failure triggered the criuse to be inop (You dont want cruise control with no brakes) followed by the glow plug/managemant light. Regards Ross Quote
