adrianf. Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 Im thinking of going over to see Mickey mouse in Paris.Having never been to France i know nothing about driving over there.Ive read loads of reports about how mad they all are but im not bothered about that, my question is, does it seem a very long way to drive.A quick calculation seems to work out at about 380 ish miles each way. Those of you who have driven there would you do it agan.I fancy jumping on the train but then i saw the prices.Any info would be great.Adrian. Ivor_E_Tower Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 Is that all??380 miles each way???..wow...i could do that...done more than that in a day. ..and that just from Lyneham to Milton Keynes! Oct 2004 - did our place to EuroDisney and back on one tank of diesel, stopping to pick up my parents in Guildford on the way. It's basically all motorway or dual carriageway in France to get from Calais to EuroDisney, although we actually stayed 2 stops short of the park and took the train in (cheap and no problem with parking; hotel was walking distance from the station) Quote
steelblue ghia Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 we went back in april this year,I would definately drive again, its motorway most of the way and really easy to find,it took us just over three and a half hours to get from dover to eurodisney,I wish we could have the raised speed limits on our motorways that france have !! adrianf. Posted July 9, 2007 Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 Thanks for the replies folks. My sister in law works for Brittany Ferries so can get a good discount on her bookings. We have booked to sail from Portsmouth which is a lot closer for me than Dover, and sail into Caen in France. Acording to Brittany Ferries website it then 145 miles to Paris. We sail overnight with a cabin and dock at about 6am ready to drive to Disney. We then have two days there with 1/2 another day to load the cars up with booze  before returning home. Has anyone done this route ???? Quote
Davetheref Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 We've been there in the past for 3 years in a row when the kids were younger. Never been the Caen route though. Always used the tunnel and never found any problems driving there. We also always stayed in the Disney Davy crocket ranch. Best for self catering and the best swimming pool. One thing to watch on the motorways. If you need to stop for a loo break, try to use the proper service stations and not a rest area. My daughter and wife had a fit at a rest area when they saw that the 'Ladies' loo was just a hole in the ground. Very funny but not nice if you are a 'Lady'. ;) Quote
El Dingo Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 (edited) Avoid the local Disney area hotels; even the Holiday Inn, which does not meet their normal standards, and that's saying something. Or if you do stay in one of these, eat elsewhere. We liked the studios much more than the park. Even better, go to Paris instead and visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, etc. Edited July 12, 2007 by El Dingo Quote
