Hi

Does anyone know how to remove the arm (I don't mean the blade) of the rear wiper?

I need to replace the plastic cover that conceals the gap where the wiper spindle comes through from the motor on the inside.

I flipped back the black cover to reveal a nut and washer which I removed, but the arm does not lift off. Does it screw onto the spindle?

I tried turning the arm anti-clockwise to unscrew it, but it won't budge and I don't want to use excessive force in case it will damage the arm or spindle.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks Max.

The arm fits onto a splined shaft, the same as all wipers.

Once you remove the nut, get a large screwdriver and lever off the arm up off the spline. Its corroded a little and thats why its tight.

i wouldnt advise the screwdriver on the rear wiper as it goes threw the glass

and you might end up with a new window instead

just bend it up as if you was changing the blade and wiggle it a little should come of then

if not you need something like a bailjoint spliter to free it

Obviously dont lever against the glass, use the shaft housing as the lever point, twisting the (LARGE) driver for leverage. Edited by seatkid

the reason not to lever with a screwdriver is there isnt anything behind the wiper

expect a piece of rubber wich goes threw the glass ( which i think you are trying

to change ) and glass !!

Well I got the rear wiper arm off eventually thanks to your help!

Now we have another problem, it seems to be one after another.

The heater blower (front) doesn't work on the "1" or "2" positions, but works on "3" and "4".

This is really irritating, as speed setting 3 is quite loud and if I turn the fan off the car gets hot and stuffy in seconds.

The air con works as does the air re-circulation.

Any ideas what is the fault?

Thanks Max

Try a forum search on "resistor pack". A faulty resistor pack leaves you with some speeds that don't work. Info on how to change it is on here somewhere.
