midhertsgalaxy Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 Help. Has anyone out there had similar problems. I have a 2001 2.3i petrol. About once every month it would fail to start...not even turn over. However, before I had a chance to get annoyed or anything, I would replace the key in the ignition and ...bingo, off i'd go. Suddenly this weekend, it got a lot less intermittant and a lot more reluctant to start. I have two keys. one remote one and one non remote. I noticed that when using the non remote key (ie My one, us men always end up with the one that doesn't do the fancy remote thing), it won't start and the immobilser light on the door flashes. If I then put in my partner's remote key, the same occurs. If however, I then wait for about 1 min, it will start OK with the remote key. I am therefore suspecting the chip in the non remote key has failed somehow, and the immobilser waits about 1 minute before accepting any instruction from any key. Does anyone else think my diagnosis is correct? Has anyone else had immobilser problems? or is it actually nothing to do with the keys and is actually relay 30 on the blink. I'm not quite sure how to proceed. I guess the next few days with the one good remote key will tell all, but any pointers or advise would be grateful. many thanks Midherts galaxy. 2.3i petrol 2001 Quote
