YTou were probably used to more clearence with your old Galaxy. Were you going fast or slow through the puddle. I've always guessed very slow would be best but I suppose this means more time for the engine to get flooded. Does anyone know what technique is best?

The recommended technique with a manual transmission is to slip the clutch and keep revs high (to keep water from coming up the exhaust) but keep your speed low to avoid creating a 'bow' wave. (It depends where your air cleaner inlet is located on how important it is to avoid creating a bow wave.)

With an automatic transmission you havn't got the option of slipping the clutch.

On topic, I do feel sorry for those about to go on holiday - what with flights cancelled and long delays. I heard that Edinburgh and Birmingham both stopped cars from approaching the terminal buildings.

I was very surprised when I saw the Glasgow attack on TV this morning. Not surprised that an attack happened, but the timing and location.

We are just 6 days away from the second anniversary of the London bombings and I thought the ones in London were to focus attention on the capital so that on the 7th it would be almost totally locked down at which point they would hit one of the other big cities Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, Edingburgh or Cardiff.

I now wonder if they are planning on hitting several large cities "on the day"

Terrorism isnt like a normal war because for the most part you dont know exactly who or where the enemy are or when they will strike next.

I just hope that all their efforts are thwarted without serious injury to innocent people.

why?

Slow in a Diesel to get through the puddle.

Fast in a Petrol so you have less distance to push it when it breaks down.

Good point!

Bugger .... wish id known that!

Katman ... i think that they will know London will be considered the main target so will try and divert attention elsewhere, then maybe the main incenduary (sp) will be let loose on their main target....basically what you said really ....
