Hi, Is there a switch for the interior lights in the boot? Neither of mine are working despite a bulb change.

The other interior lights work as expected, fade out come on with door opening etc.

Is the most likely cause the wiring to the tailgate?

Any help appreciated

it's in/clipped? onto the locking mech inside the rear hatch, could be the loom though as you suggest? Edited by wolfie

It was the wiring, big brown wire snapped, rejoined and boot lights now work with boot opening.

Is there a recommended method for replacing / mending the wires?

I soldered them and used heat shrink tubing. Many of the other wires are on the way out though.

The previous owner has destroyed the rubber gaiter so i guess that's where the small amount of water near the jack has come from. Have recovered intact gaiter from scrapyard - but obviously will need to cut / disconnect all the wires to fit it.

The wiring diagram on the tis cd shows a tailgate switch but not where it is!

open the rear hatch, check lights are on? now trip the hatch lock by pushing your finger on the section of the lock that hits the striker pin .... and the lights have now gone out........... to reset the lock use the hatch relese handle as you would normally, a technique used while your parked up with the hatch open for any length of time! stops the battery going flat :19:
