Guest PhilGSmith4 Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I have a "T" reg Galaxy, and only a lap belt fixing for the middle seat. I know the new galaxies have a fixing in the roof that enables you to have a three point system on the middle seat. Buying a new galaxy seems a bit extreme. I want to increase the safety of the lap belt for the middle seat for my children. Can you get a conversion kit or anything else that would help. I know I could just put one of the seats back in the rear, but this would reduce the boot space plus the rear cover would then become redundant. Can anybody help. Phil Quote
Guest Barrye Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Alas no - The roof structure is reinforced to take the seatbelt, and your's won't be. Also is it better to have a 3 point belt or sit in the crumple zone (3rd row). I have 4 kids + dog so use the middle seat regularly. I agree it is not ideal and the belt does have a habit of creeping loose over time ( weeks). Unfortunately the only option is to change the car. Barry PS If you want the ultimate in safety in a 7 seater order a Volvo XC90 - to you only Quote
Guest alanf Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 what about an aftermarket three point harness? they are now available with inertia reel fittings! what with it being for the middle seat the fixing bolt could be mounted through the floor between the rear most seats mountings and not be to much of a hinderance to the rear seat users? try looking in your local boy racer shop' or trawl through the magazines in w.h.smiths, try max power, fast car etc. Quote

Guest PhilGSmith4 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I have gone to the Securon website and forwarded the relevant details to the dealership I use to confirm it can be fitted, and at what cost. Will let you know how I get on Quote
Guest PhilGSmith4 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Followed up with Ford, they did not want to fit this device. Another problem is that it would interfere with the boot cover, meaning you would have to remove it when using the middle seat. Also removing carpet and sound proofing could mean that it may not go back the same. Although good product, not really suited to the Galaxy. Looked at fixing in roof, similar to what the new galaxies have but this would proove costly circa Quote
