Hi, I drive a VW Sharan 1.9 tdi diesel and did an article on how to change an air mass meter.

I have been asked a question by a galaxy owner about whether the article would also apply to his engine and what make the air mass meter would most likely be.

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to have a look at the advice on my site and let me know if it has any relevance to a Ford Galaxy.

The web page is ;

http://www.carbasics.co.uk/how_to_change_air_mass_meter.htm

Thanks in advance.

PS - this is not a shameless plug, if the info on my site is relevant then I can alter my page to suit.

Very nice article.

The Galaxy MK1 and MK2 Diesel is actually a VW Sharan with a couple of Ford badges and trims stuck on therefore the article is extremely relevant.

Why take the top of the air box of??,...no need on the Galaxy...seems more work than needed to me...doesnt take 2 ticks to get those 2 bolts off without having to take the top of the box off....

so leave the air box lid in place and then undo the lower bolt? and risk dropping the socket or the bolt into the engine bay! plus struggling to get a good swing on the ratchet! then haveing to jack the car up and drop the under tray to find it! where as unclip the lid unplug the MAF remove the whole thing to your work bench and work in comfort while being able to get a good swing on the ratchet....... maybe that was why yours kept coming apart?

mine kept coming apart as when it was serviced..they took the top of the box off and cross threaded where the screw goes in..thats why it would never secure properly and thats why i used cable ties too secure it..when i changed the MAF..there were no probs at all.and i dropped nothing into the engine bay!!...the probs i had with mine..were not of my doing.

i always use a magnetic screwdriver with a build in extension [like the old pull out ariels]

just incase the worse happens....
