Guest The Doctor Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Is there something up with my boot? If I'm sat in the car with the engine running and all doors unlocked, occassinally the boot will refuse to open, unless I get out and manually open it with a key. It doesn't always seem to happen and I can't see a pattern in it. Any body else with the same problem? Quote
NikpV Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I think its by design - stops somebody opening it at traffic lights etc, mine will unlock if I open one of the doors (only tried with drivers door) first Nik Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Yes, there is some kind of anti-theft interlock that stops the boot/tailgate being opened. Not sure exactly what the "rules" are that govern when you can or cannot open it. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Nobody get Owners' Manuals with their vehicles? Quote
iainkirk Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Nobody get Owners' Manuals with their vehicles? Yes, but have you read the Ford one ???? I sometimes wonder if they're referring to the same vehicle - did Ford translate it directly from Portugese? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Mine's translated from German, for sure, (there are several clangers where the translator got fed up - like mit instead of with and Geschwindigkeit Steuerung for speed controller) but it does explain most things...in a round about way! Particularly hard to understand are the sections on Climate Control and the Scala Head unit - which was written badly by Blaupunkt (Bosch), methinks. Quote
seatkid Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 extract SEAT ALHAMBRA MANUAL p14 NoteTo prevent unauthorized access, it is not possible to open the tailgate while the ignition is switched on (for example at traffic lights). This function is retained for about 30 seconds after the ignition is switched off, so long as no doors are opened. Rear comfort openingFor increased comfort, when the ignition is switched on it is possible to open the tailgate for about 30 seconds after the last door is locked. (seems even the manuals are better with the alhambras! ) Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 And compare standard specs - and the price! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 ...so for all those not happy with the ride quality of their Alhambra, remember to open the tailgate AFTER you have got in, as it will increase comfort.A classic! Quote
