mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Ok..ive found the folder..but its 1.18GB big..so most of it is fragmented....it contains desktop..documents..faves and start menu. and it says..files..NTUSER.DAT umm...so whats going on in my pc for all these to be pluffed? Quote
big_kev Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Its your windows registry ( or at least the main part of it ). You can't do anything with it because it is in use. Leave it alone or your PC will get upset and die. Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 but why is it fragmented..and why wont it defragment?..i ran reg mechanic a couple of days ago...i defrag every few weeks..and this has never happened before. Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Starting to get worried....my pc is still slow......is my registry getting fubard?? Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 I went into the C drive..and into syst.32 ..got rid of a few things that i thought i had deleted..pottered around in the c drive and windows folders...got rid of a few bits ..got rid of some programs...ran reg mechanic..there were only 4 errors..they got fixed.shes running faster than before..but that red lump is still there when i defrag. adrianf. Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 We dont want to know about your red lumps madam Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Tut Tut dear :) one part i went into i got this warning saying to alter anything could affect performance etc....didnt delete anything in there...running a lot faster now though. Quote
El Dingo Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 IIRC there are 'unmoveable' bits, but they're in green...Hmmm. (I quite like red lumps. Are they swollen? :) ) Quote
jkspoff Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Download and run www.iolo.com, system mechanic, it worked wonders on mine, there is a 30 day trial and then the option to purchase, it fixes and runs lots of diagnostics and repairs and speeds up your computer, including a proper defragment. Guest wolfie Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 another sign that to much info in the wrong hands can do damage! didnt you learn the last time you screwed around with the pc? how long were you off line for that time? Quote
mumof4 Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 last time i was off line..was due to a virus that he downloaded when he watched porn. After a deep scan its telling me i have 1.25GB of clutter..what is clutter? Quote
jkspoff Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Clutter is just all the stuff that accumulates on your PC over time, it can be made of temporary files and generally stuff that you don't need, run the PC TotalCare option and tick all the boxes, it will be like new when you've finished, but it will delete your cookies too, unless you de-select that option. Guest wolfie Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 before you started all this pc cleaning, did you run system restore? or back up anything? Quote

big_kev Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Its not your windows swap file (paging file ) is it ? If so disable it, run defrag then re-enable it. Quote
