psg225 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I am getting an Engine Malfunction Alarm on my Galaxy. Its a MK3 56 plate and is still under warranty. This alarm appears on long motorway drives and is very irritating. I've twice had this fault repaired by my local dealer only for it to return immediately, which off course tells me that my dealer has no clue as to whats causing it and is just changing parts at will. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Quote

fclauson Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 did the dealer give you what the codes where out of the computer - from this you can determine what caused the original alarm Quote

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have an 07 plate 2.0 TDCI (4 mths old). I am getting the 'Engine Management' warning comming up on the dashboard computer, the writing is amber coloured and not red. When we get this we notice a drop in the engine power. We have to stop the car, turn the ignition off and back on again. We also get problems with the windows refusing to close (they open themselves again) and last week they even refused to close at all. The car has just been back to Dagenham Motors of Epsom for the second time. They say they cannot find the fault and offered to put the car on an "extended over-night test", when I asked what that was they said it means the mechanic driving my car home after work and then driving it back to the garage in the morning.................! Apparently the Americans have put a man on the moon (the rocket was probably built by the French rather than by Ford). Has anyone got an idea what is going wrong with this car? Quote
NikpV Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 (edited) sounds like its going into limp home mode (based on our experiences of the mk1 & mk 2 ) would be very surprised if it does not log a fault for such a drastic measure - ummm wonder if the mk3 has the drive by wire brake switch like the others - may be worth checking you brake lights are working th next time the problem happens. If any of you mk3 owners get these prioblems sorted out then please post solutions here as most of the current experience is with the mk1 & mk2 - if enough infois posted we can start a subsection for the mk3 gal :P (even if mumof4 doesnt like the shape) :P Edited August 6, 2007 by NikpV Quote

As for the solution to the problems i'll let you know when Marks & Spencers tell me.......Marks & Spencers you ask! Yes I say....unlike Ford they don't make cars but they do give after care and customer service! (Next time a Renault!) Quote
mumof4 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 I am sorry to hear of all the probs you are having with your MKIII....sounds like typical Ford as in they dont know whats wrong with the cars they build when they do go wrong!!..Im surprised they are still in business with their attitude...I may not like the MKIII..but i do think they need their own section on here...that way all the MKIII owners can see what sorta probs to expect/offer help etcc...as it is a different kettle of fish to the other MKs. sparky Paul Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 I may not like the MKIII..but i do think they need their own section on here...that way all the MKIII owners can see what sorta probs to expect/offer help etcc...as it is a different kettle of fish to the other MKs.I reckon that would be a very sensible way to go, Galaxy I/II and Galaxy III are completely different beasts. Apart from some shared petrol engine and gearbox heritage, the only other common ground is the raft of crummy Ford dealers... Quote
mumof4 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Will see what i can do..there is a call for it..i know we dont have that many MKIII owners..but if there was a section for them i think it would be easier for them more than anything. Quote
sparky Paul Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 i know we dont have that many MKIII owners..but if there was a section for them i think it would be easier for them more than anything.I agree, I think it would be particularly helpful for the technical side of things. Whilst there aren't many members that own a mk.3 yet, the number is bound to increase... Quote
mumof4 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 If i do this..all the MKIII posts in technical would have to be flagged in some way then moved across to the new sction...A lot of work involved going through the technical section looking for them!!. Appologies for going off topic by the way. Quote
clappo Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I have the same problem with my galaxy could anyone tell me if they got it sorted Quote
