b318isp Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Had a brand new turbo fitted to our Alhambra 1.9TDi PD 115bhp due to failed bearings. Before that, I felt that economy and performance were deteriorating slightly. With the new turbo fitted, the car doesn't seem to have the torque at around 2k that it had before. Checked for faults (none, other than for the turbo failure) so no clues there. So, ran the car with VAG-COM plugged in and recording key parameters. I noticed that the MAF (specified) and the MAF (actual) reading s oftened were miles apart. Plotting the data with respect to rpm showed that over 2000rpm there is very poor correlation between the two - and that the standard deviation (or range of deviations) got worse at higher rpms. That said, under full acceleration the MAF (specified) jumps to 850 - so I guess the car wouldn't react that quickly. I'm wondering if I should replace the MAF anyway. Anyone know exactly what these figures are indicating. I've some of the data below: MAF MAF Engine(specified) (actual) speedmg/str mg/str /min240 274.4 1911240 259.7 1995240 249.9 2016240 377.3 2016240 382.2 2037240 298.9 2079240 367.5 2079240 264.6 2100240 372.4 2100245 455.7 1764245 421.4 1764245 249.9 1764245 230.3 1785245 235.2 1785245 230.3 1806245 274.4 1806245 235.2 1827245 377.3 2310245 377.3 2310245 382.2 2331250 205.8 903250 240.1 903250 240.1 903250 245 1176250 264.6 2142250 392 2352250 406.7 2394250 372.4 2415250 401.8 2457250 436.1 2478250 377.3 2751250 377.3 2835250 318.5 2940250 392 2940255 176.4 945255 303.8 1449255 431.2 1701255 372.4 2079255 249.9 2121255 494.9 2184255 225.4 2310280 289.1 2814280 455.7 2940285 289.1 1470285 303.8 1869300 352.8 2961310 313.6 2268315 279.3 1911330 426.3 1470330 377.3 1491330 357.7 1995335 333.2 1491340 392 2205340 480.2 3087345 269.5 2016370 392 2310380 377.3 1974380 431.2 3045385 387.1 1869385 431.2 1911385 480.2 2457390 445.9 1806390 372.4 1911390 387.1 3087395 382.2 1995400 401.8 1470400 357.7 1491430 392 2016435 441 1932435 445.9 2394440 445.9 1932440 504.7 2436445 396.9 2289450 416.5 2163470 494.9 1890470 460.6 2226470 436.1 3066475 480.2 1848475 509.6 2205475 509.6 2352485 485.1 1764485 352.8 2058490 514.5 2016490 499.8 2121515 396.9 3234520 480.2 1743555 387.1 3276565 431.2 3066570 416.5 1890575 494.9 1743575 573.3 2184590 529.2 2037610 475.3 3108620 548.8 2856640 485.1 3339655 455.7 1470665 509.6 1974690 543.9 1764710 529.2 1764720 529.2 2058735 597.8 2058735 504.7 2079735 392 3423810 558.6 2268850 323.4 1218850 524.3 1491850 563.5 1491850 534.1 2373850 700.7 2394850 627.2 2415850 651.7 2457850 622.3 2457850 637 2478850 690.9 2478850 396.9 3549850 597.8 3570850 607.6 3675850 588 3864850 563.5 4200850 553.7 4305850 524.3 4494855 401.8 1848865 210.7 1491880 514.5 2163925 455.7 2961 Quote
davgree Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) Hi, sorry but I cant help with your problem, but can I ask you abot VAG-COM? Did you use a vw garage vag-com, or do you have your own system? if so what are you using? I have just purchased 'VAG-CAN Commander full' but cant connect to my 2004 galaxy TDi auto ... any tips please, like what mode should the car be in to connect to the ECU and Vag-com. Any help welcomed! Thanks, Dave. Edited June 15, 2007 by davgree Quote
big_kev Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Anyone know exactly what these figures are indicating. I've some of the data below: MAF MAF Engine(specified) (actual) speedmg/str mg/str /min240 274.4 1911 I'm confused....I understand the first two columns but the 3rd one appears to be RPM. I am assuming that this was done whilst the car was moving, and that therfore the PRM would be in different gears and on different gradients ? Quote

Also do you have the correct lead for connection. Quote
b318isp Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 Yes, 3rd is rpm. This is just a cross section of the full file - but it is over varfying gradients, loads, gears, etc. Quote
b318isp Posted June 16, 2007 Author Report Posted June 16, 2007 I have the demo VAG-COM, and the main connection issue is to make sure that the Com ports and IRQs align with your software (see Device Manager in Control Panel). Quote

I dont think mine is a com port problem as led's flashing on conector, if you set com port wrong you get no lights. My prob is software says no responce from the car (2004 Tdi 115 auto). Where did you get demo VAG-com from pls? Quote
