New Owner Who Would Like To Do Some Diagnostics

Hi everyone. I just bought a 1996 Ford Galaxy GLX 1.9 TD 135,000miles on the clock. The engine was recently rebuild so at the moment its running smoothly. The only concern I have are the warning lights i get, the temp gauge blinks 2 minutes after starting, the airbag light stays all the time and from time to time the coil spring would blink as well. I have been reading some posts here about VAG COM but mostly they apply to the MK2 GALAXY. I have checked my galaxy and it has a OBD socket in the center console under the ashtray panel, it has about 16 holes in the female socket. I'd like to know if I can do some diagnostics by using that socket for the VAG COM software?
