help the wheels on my alhambra do not have the right weight rating tyre size 225/45/17 94 but the local tyre shops in the area say there is no higher rating for this tyre size but they have plenty of 235/45/17 97 the question is the rim width is 7j is it safe to put 235 tyres on inplace of the 225. all the garages say check with the dealer but they wont say as they are not standard fit wheels

thanks in advance

235's might be a bit wide on a 7" rim but worth checking the wheel dimensions on the current Alhambra Stylance Manual as it uses 235/45 x 17's if this is a 7" rim then no worries, as you're tyre supplier says, loads of tyres in that size. Otherwise perhaps a 215/45 or 50 on the 17's?

the 235 will prob fit just will get more sidewall flex..

There are lots of 225/45x17 94W tyres available. Many more are available now than when I first got my 04 reg Alhambra with these tyres.

Any reputable tyre dealer should be able to get htem within a couple of days. I've had Michelin, Continental, Hankook, and Toyo and all seem OK. quite expensive though!

The difference between 94 and 95 Rating is only about 80kg.

A fully loaded V6 Auto is a hellava lot more than this in comparison to your 2.0l and therefore if it is ok to have 95 rated tyres then yours should be OK with 94.

Or lose 80kg from your vehicle ( wife + shopping springs to mind ).

it is actuatly a disabled conversion with a raised roof and ramp at the rear thats why i went for slightly larger wheels to see if the handeling could be improved as the suspension cannot be altered due to th lowered fuel tank. it's a bit different to what i have been used to in the past eg audi coupes and quattro's
