I have a 53 plated Ford Galaxy ghia with a 500 RDS stereo which has a 6 cd changer situated in the boot area.I have just bought a sat nav system for a Ford Galaxy off e-bay and was wondering if i give the specifications would anyone know if i would need to buy any additional wiring loom.As far as I know the only thing i need to do is to run the gps aerial lead underneath the dash ,probably through the glove box area to behing where the console will sit.Hopefully the leads for the existing stereo will plug into the rear of the sat nav unit ????????????

The Sat nav is called a Ford Blaupunkt MFD DX Sat nav which has a cd changer control written on the top right hand side of the unit.

I am unable to e-mail the picture for some reason.It basically has a knob on the left with TIM,INFO,ASL,SCAN and numbers 1,2,3 underneath and the knob on the right hand side has NAVI,AUDIO,MUSIC SYMBOL and numbers 4,5,6 and then there is the screen in the middle.I have cut/pasted the following too:

...:FORD MFD satellite navigation

...::Radio unit

- RDS/EON VHF (stereo), MW

- TP, TA

- Speech distortion elimination during traffic news

- 6 x 6 memory presets (TP, FM, AM, on the memory levels 1 & 2)

- Radio and memory scan

- 4 x 20W output power

...::Traffic News

- Evaluation of TP and TA

- TIM: Traffic news memory with 4 minute recording capacity

...::Navigation unit

- Acoustic driving recommendations

- Adjustible radio loudspeaker volume control for the output of driving recommendations

- Selectable menu language:

* German

* English

* Dutch

* Italian

* French

* Spanish

- Selectable road map orientation

...::Items included

- FORD MFD DX

That's the one.Both our links show the one that I am getting.Do you have any more thoughts re if it will fit now you have seen the picture ???

i deleted my link since we both put up the same one..

I am no expert..but i think if it is double din then it should fit..i cant think of a reason why not.

considering the 6006e unit is double din and it fit in mine..

Steve67 is the best to know....or someone who already has it in..Bleeno does..and so do others..

There are other topics on this subject in these forums. I think you will have to do some mods to the console to get this to fit. I considered doing this to mine but the fear of ballsing it up due to the mods I would have had to make put me off.

LOL.

I see the blind are leading the blind here.

Time to shed some light on the subject:

The standard Ford Audio ( 5000RDS, 6006E, etc.. ) is 1.75DIN

The SatNav unit is double DIN. And it is really a rebadged VW / Blaupunkt unit so the plugs are different and will need converters.

It is a fairly simple job to remove the air con control, radio, cup holders and switch gear from your existing facia. Then remove the three screws that hold it in ( 1 in each cup holder slot and one at the back of the radio slot)

Then replace everything in the new facia you will have just bought from Ford to fit the SatNav. The part number you need is F1319217. Only

Without getting it all out to have a look I think it is solid purple.

In a setup using Ford standard audio units it is the wire that ends in the yellow connector ( which only has one wire coming from it in a standard setup)
