Charlie Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Does anyone have information to enable the "Dash Warning Light" for use when towing? I've fitted a 12n/12s genuine ford wiring kit and all works well apart from the visual warning Different posts say it's something to do with "Central Electrics Module 9" but what do I need to change? Having done so searching, dave m has enabled his but I can't contact him as a new member (email disabled) Quote

springen Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 Strangely, my dash warning light flashes when I operate the Hazard Warning Lights, whether the towing electrics are connected or not. It does not operate at any other time. I have not made any VAG COM changes. Towsure custom wiring kit fitted. Quote
Charlie Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 Bleeno, do you know what has to changed with VAG COM? Quote
Smilge Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) Bleeno, do you know what has to changed with VAG COM? To be honest I'm not sure matey ... all I've seen somewhere on here is that it has to be enabled. I get no audible or visual warning when the caravan electrics are attached so I've got to the same to mine once I've sorted my van out. Just found this .... the light is activated by adding 08 to the software coding on Module 9 Central Electronics using VAG-COM. Bigdaddy - I think the software needs to be registered in order to recode modules. The electronics sense the additional load created by the extra indicator bulbs thus triggering the towing light I am glad i can get rid of that damned buzzer though:) Edited June 6, 2007 by Bleeno Quote
Charlie Posted June 6, 2007 Author Report Posted June 6, 2007 Ok.... An update on "Visual Warning Light" dave_m received my email after all and replied earlier today and with his help i've sorted the problem. Thanks dave Its been a long while since I done mine but you have to RECODE Module 9 using VAG COM and add 8 to the number you should have one of the following codes already or one thats similar coded to Module 9. Just remember the old code and you can put it back if it doesn't work!! 00004 = Central Locking 00256 = Central Locking (Anti-Theft Warning) 04096 = Central Locking (Anti-Theft Warning/Remote Control) 16384 = Central Locking (Remote Control) so to add it to the last one you would change the code to 16392. someone on the forum will be able to clarify, This site is also useful http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/VW_Sha...ctronics#Coding Using VAG COM my software code was 04097, changed it to 04105 and all working spot on Many thanks for all your help Quote
