Guest Rockdoctor Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 I get an annoying vibrating buzzing noise from the lower left corner of the windscreen (looking from the inside) when driving at over 80 mph (on german autobahns of course).I have eliminated the wipers as the cause, so it's looking like the black plastic trim that rests on the lower corners of the windscreen is the source. The plastic trim is quite easy to move - it shifts several millimetres if you pull on it, and seems to be quite weakly attached to the car.The trim is at least partly held in place by the nut at the end of the wiper arm, where it attaches to the motor. Has anyone else had this and solved it?Before I start mucking around it would be reassuring to have more of a clue. It's an '02 2.3 Ghia Gal. Quote
chromedome Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Yes, a common problem. A bit of messing about and some strategically placed sticky pads under the trim usually cures the problem. Quote
Tram Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Yep, Had a similar problem myself after a service. It sounded like a budgie at 45mph and a flock of budgies at 55mph. I took it back and they fixed it by securing the trim tighter to the screen. Quote
Sher Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Where abouts under the Trim will seem to have the best effect? Quote
chromedome Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 At the top between the screen and the trim worked for me. This, in theory, prevents the plastic touching the glass at speed. It is a bit hit and miss but you will soon find out what works best. Quote
