Brake Disk Ware. Even Or Uneven?

Hello all,

My Galaxy is the first car I have ever owned with disk brakes on the front and rear. After about 6 weeks of driving I've noticed that the front wheels have about twice as thick a layer of brake dust on them compared to the back wheels.

 

Should the brake balance be evenly split or should the front brakes still be doing most of the work even though the back brakes are the same?

 

Should I expect to change the front discs/pads more often than the rears.
