mutleybrookes Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Hi guysCan you tell me in no uncertain terms.....what is the box under the passenger seat responsible for, as my galaxy hasn't got one, not sure if i need it, i've got a 1996 2.8 v6 ghia x, would a new box do anything for me!Regards in advance of someone giving it to me straight!ps only driving on the red master key Quote
Guest wolfie Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) does your central locking, global closure and alarm work? if not there's your answer! and the red key is the master key! get some others cut PRONTO! get them programed in and then stash the red key somewhere safe! if you loose it you will be paying to have the whole system reprogramed and all new keys programed into the system via the computer which will cost you more, at the moment you can program them in cheaply via the red key! Guest wolfie Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 yeah thanks for the advice about the key! central locking and global close still work! will i be able to program new keys ok?regards ??? cant see how as the box is the central locking/alarm ECU! are you sure someones not moved it? as IIRC it was from 98 that that they moved it up under the dash are! as for programming in new keys that's a different ECU the Passive-Anti-Theft system aka PAT system that box is tucked up behind the dash behind the clocks under the PCM IIRC? mutleybrookes Posted June 3, 2007 Author Report Posted June 3, 2007 well now you've got me, as i said central locking and global close still work, there are i think 2 leads that are not being used under the passenger seat! there are also a couple of mounting screws where i presume the old box used to be. Stevoo Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 As mentioned box under passanger seat is for ecu, mine is a 1997 but has ecu in dashboard next to fuses box. if u have a horizontal and vertical row of fuses then the box under passanger seat should be empty for storage. They moved ecu as the drain pipes from sun roof blocked up and water came in the storage box under passanger seat and killed ecu. Quote
Chris Young Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 was it not a cd changer under the passenger seat? Quote
mumof4 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 cd changer goes in the cubby at the rear of the vehicle. Quote
mutleybrookes Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 hino vertical fusesanybody have any ideas?also how would you arm the alarm as it has never worked? Quote
Stevoo Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 ok box under pass seat is where your ecu sits, once u get new keys programed your remote locking/alarm should work with the buttons on your new black key, or in some cases ford may need to program the new key into the system.Either way take your red key and car to main dealer.
