makil6 Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Can anyone tell me wot goes through this pipe please? At the end that bolts to the engine block i seem to have an oil leak but the other end appears to come from the air box (i think). So the question is ' is it oil or air?' and is it possible to have oil coming from this fitting or is it coming from elsewhere? Any help. thanks. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 (edited) both! oil mist and engine fumes! it's the crank case breather, the round object on top of the cam cover is a pressure regulating valve, further down the pipe your pointing to maybe an inline oil separator pot? some models have one? the valve is also IIRC linked into the cam cover, the other pipe IIRC goes to inlet system and allows the fumes to added to the air/ful to be burnt Edited May 22, 2007 by wolfie Quote
makil6 Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 so is it possible to have an oil leak where its bolted to the engine block. i assume its sealed by an 'o' ring or gasket. By the way its a 97 1.9tdi with 135000miles. cheers. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 yes it's possible to leak oil at this point and yes there is an 'O' ring seal at the point where it bolts onto the block, 30x3,5 mm if I read it correctly? Quote
