Dalbir Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Hi, I had my 2001 Sharran TDi serviced in Sept 06 and the service warning light was reset at that time. The warning light has just come on again to say that I need a service in 2,000miles time when I know for a fact that it is due in 3,000miles time (ie every 10,000 miles, this is based on the reading stamped in the book when it was last serviced) Is this normal or are the garage trying to get me to get it serviced before its due. Or is it a fault. The light was defintely reset when it was last serviced and I haven't messed about with it (via the odometer button) at all. Many thanksDal Quote
Smilge Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Isn't it an intelligent system that looks at the way you drive it? .... Yes you can reset it by pressing and holding the odometer reset button then turning on the ignition. Quote
Sher Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 My 2002 1.9tdi Ghia Galaxy has always flagged up the 10,000mile service ahead of time. I must drive it hard if there is an intelligent system onboard. 67,000 miles and no brakes worn? Still on the 2nd set of tyres? I think not! Quote
sanjsanj Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 i think it is intelligent...which means it probably looks at the number stop/starts, weather you make lots of short journeys or generally long ones ...etc etc Quote
iainkirk Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Aren't VW's on variable service interval? 'Normal' driving apparently results in approx 15,000 mile service interval?? Ford ones are on fixed 10,000 miles - I believe there is a setting on VAG.COM to control the interval. I increased the servie interval on mine to 15,000 miles after 80,000 miles. Didn't notice any fall-off in performance or fuel efficiency. Quote
