mumof4 Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 Finance company have rejected the settlement offer of 4k as it was outside the 7 day period it was open..they now want the total balance of 6.5k...nothing less... just waiting to hear back from a solicitor to see if there is anything that can be done..otherwise..she will be handed back. :( :( :( Quote
mumof4 Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 I'm too honest..cant do that to her...I know..its just a car...but i worked damn hard on her.. Quote
mikeohope Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 Mo4, who is being chased for the balance, you, or the person who's name the agreement is in? Quote
mumof4 Posted May 30, 2007 Author Report Posted May 30, 2007 He is.....nay me.but i have authority to deal with it.....when i hand her back as i know it will come to that...they will chase him for the balance outstanding after she is sold at auction. Then it will be nowt to do with me.I just want to know if there was any way the debt can be written off..i mean..4 yrs of paying for her...1 yr to go..well and the 6 months he defaulted coz hes a twerp, it just feels like its money down the drain. mikeohope Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 You've probably been through all this especially if you have a solicitor but finance companies usaully want to be seen as reasonable but is there no way they or another reputable lender will let you refinance the remaining dues over a longer term? mikeohope Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 can you get another loan from someone else to settle with the finance co? Quote
sanjsanj Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 (edited) I'd say stick to a diesel, whatever you do maz. generally lower insurance quotes, they dont depreciate as much and u get better fuel consumption. The engines are much more robust and last much longer than a petrol one does. If you're handing the gal back, i guess they'll get the outstanding balance from him. If this is the case, I'd say make as much money as you can on gal while you have it. :angry2: A very robust car is the mercedes 190E diesel, if you fancy it. Tim-spam's has done more than 300,000 miles in it and still going strong... my dad had a J reg 300D and he sold it with 237000 on the clock!. Whats more is you can run it on chip fat, saving you a Edited May 30, 2007 by sanjsanj Quote
