Assa Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 Sorry that this is a duplicate of something I posted in the newbie forum, but I've not had any response there and hope i can get some here. The grip on my stearing wheel is worn to the point where it is uncomfortable to use over a long drive.I can't find any appropriate grip replacements, and besides don't think it would look very good. However, replacing the whole stearing wheel would no doubt have to be a job for an expert (I'm not touching the airbag)and therefore quite expensive. Can anyone advise? Thanks, Assa Quote
Bigjeeze Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 Apart from sourcing a new steering wheel it isn't a difficult job. You do need to buy a new centre nut and washer - but aprt from that it's very straightforward. I have done it on my Mk1 - but not on a Mark 2 - although I think all is the same - The Haynes manual talks you through it quite well. Regards BJ Quote

I had been looking to get a Haynes manual but was put off by the fact the only one available was for the MkI. I suppose if the MkII was only a face-lift then the machanics will be the same so it should be OK. I'll look into it (I've seen some stearing wheels on E-Bay so may take the plunge). Assa Quote
