johnkg Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 As per title. A while back I had to reconnect some of the wires in the sheath between the top right of the car and the boot as the rear windscreen wiper was causing the central locking to activate!I fixed this. A few days ago the back door started to no longer open unless I used the key, so today I had a look at the wires again. Sure enough two wires had split. I had to solder these back together as I didn't have any crimps. All back to normal... BUT the back door still won't open. IIRC the cables I rejoined were blue/black and brown/grey. Have I missed a trick? Quote
gregers Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 maybe or the barrel needs turning the other way to activate the central locking for the rear hatch. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 you can take the rear hatch out of the central locking system operation and allow it to operate manually, it sounds like you have done this? Quote
johnkg Posted May 18, 2007 Author Report Posted May 18, 2007 Yes I wondered this... unfortunately whatever I do with turning the key in the barrel makes no difference: I have a 97/8 Galaxy with a manual that I'm fairly certain does not match the car ^_^ (fuse descriptions don't match, etc) Can anyone post the procedure for returning the backdoor to central locking? So the scenarion I have is this: If I use remote all locks open EXCEPT back door.If all doors are centrally locked and I turn key in rear door I can hear all other locks 'open' and the lights flash. I can then open all doors. If I turn key in back door again all locks close. By virtue of the fact I can turn the key in the back door and lock/unlock all other doors does that mean I have connected ALL the wires? confused Quote
28vr6 Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 Maybe the back door solenoid is duff, whilst the electrical connections may be intact to siganal opening and closing to it and the other doors the solenoid itself cannot release the lock ^_^ Quote
Ant Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 Hi had the same problem after trying serveral things I found that it was a relay under the seat compartment next to the central locking controller. The relay is numbered 79 if this helps you, I found the contacts had suffered water damage and after cleaning them up and poping the lid off the relay and cleaning the internal contact I put it back in and all is working fine now. Hope this will help you sort you problem out. Quote
