Lots of members on here also have the 'funny' voices to go with it. I managed to get hold of darth Vader, Ozzy Osbourne and John Clease form other members.

6 is better but make sure your gps reciever can work with it, i upgraded from 5 to 6 for my pda and my reciever doesnt support ver 6, and if you buying counterfeit discs why not just dl it for free

Ok, so ive downloaded and installed tomtom 6, but when it comes to selecting the GPS device, i have a choice of Tom tom bluetooth, tomtom wired, otherblutooth or other NMEA wired receiver (which i have selected).

then i select the baud rate (9600) according to the navman Pin 570 handbook, but it defaults to com port 3 whan the handbook says com 8.

How do i change the com port settings? As all i get on the screen is No Gps Device! And im a PDA novice!

Im off to work now but will be back after 9.30, cheers in advance for any help.

I have always configured my PDA (and some of my friends which are all different) this way.

Select Other NMEA, 4800 baud rate (have never had it working on 9600), comm port 3 (I think, difficult as its at home and I'm not). The first 2 are definately correct (well was for me) and the thing you are looking for is the radioactive sign (best way to describe it) in the top right corner to be turning round and not still. If it is turning it is seeking the satelites. If it is not turing just go to the 3rd step again and try a different setting.

Hope that makes sense

Cheers Dave, You got it!

Im inside at work at the moment, so cant try it, but after changing to 4800 the screen now says "waiting for gps signal" rather than "no device found"

Ok, got home and no GPS device found?

So, ive put SmartST back on which works fine, and ive ordered a second SD card. When it comes, I will be back on for help installing the TT6 and getting the voices to work.

As I said I'm a PDA novice, so I will have a fiddle over the next couple of days till the new card comes.and then be back on for some help no doubt! At least till then the Satnav works.

Cheers for the help so far.

I'll be back!

Yes, GPS was on and I had switched it from 9600 to 4800 baud, at which point it said something like waiting for GPS signal rather than NO GPS device found, so I guess it was configured correctly. I was at work at the time and couldnt test it. By the time I got home and tried it again, it said "No GPS device found" despite being on the correct device and Baud rate.

So I put SmartST back on and will try the TT6 again when my new SD comes. Cheers for the help though.
