The rear window washer has stopped dispensing water again ;)

I lifted the near side internal panel, thinking the pipe had come apart, but no, its all intact

Any thoughts as to where the water is going.

I can't find any wet patches in the car, or the boot, so assume there is no leak

Its the 2002 Mkii Zetec i have

Thanks

Ours didnt work when we picked it up from the dealer. It turned out to be a pipe off on the washer bottle under the bonnet.

Id fill the washer bottle up..then just see where it goes when you put the rear washer on...does sound like a pipe has come adrift.

mmmm ....... well its not going on the rear window mum ...... I'd be a little careful in doing that espiecally with all the electronic bits inside the car. Dave, have a feel of the carpets on the passenger side first to see if there are damp areas. Check to see if the pump is running and then have a look around the washer bottle to see if there are any obvious problems. Had a problem with the Non return valve in the windscreen line just after the bottle on my Mondeo. Is there a separate motor/line for the rear washer on the galaxy? Is the bottle full? Some types will allow fluid to the windscreen only once the level goes down below the rear wash outlet from the bottle.

I know that when the side of the car was parked on a post.....the pipes and bits that connect to the washer bottle came adrift and it piddled water everywhere...so my thinking was......that if the pipe had come adrift....then he would see water pour out..as you have to take off the plastic bit in the wheel arch to see the whole of the washer bottle properly. But i do get your point Bleeno with all the electrical bits inside the car.He did say that he had checked for wet carpets?,,Could the washer bottle itself have a leak?or could there be something blocking the pipe?

Dave if the bottle was leaking you'd see the water on the floor. Is the pump running? .... if the bottle ran dry then you can only run the pump for a few seconds before it overheats and dies. Is there an NRV in the line on the Gal that prevents the fluid from syphoning back into the bottle? If there is then this will be just after the outlet on the bottle itself and is basically a ballbearing held shut by a spring and can be cleaned out. If the bottle did run dry, then there's a good chance that all the crud in the bottom of the bottle has blocked the NRV.

I have done a mk2 Gal recently with this type of fault so not sure if the mk1 is the same but i found the washer jet was blocked and also found the pipe was disconnected in the pass footwell which incidently left NO wet marks on the carpet, there is plenty of insulation/sound deadening there to soak it up.

The pipe came from the washer bottle throught the wheel arch and into the car behind the n/s kick panel, then just as it ran along the cill under the trim i found a connecter which had come apart.

Another good place to try is where it comes through the body into the tailgate, the constant flexing weakens the pipe and it breaks (i had an astra which broke there and just filled up a void with water)
