adrianf. Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Before i bought the Gal i had the exact same car.try to get the 130 bhp version as that was what mine was and it went very very well.Mine was the LX trim but had most of what you need, air con etc.It was such a comfy car on long runs and even better than the Gal.Economy was quite good at over 40 on a run but not as good as the VW Passat my father had at the time.If i was looking for another estate car i would have another with no worries at all . raymac Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 Thanks for that mate, i will endeavour to get the 130 model , my mate is also keen on the passat but they hold the price much better than the mondeo  Quote
adrianf. Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Yes most VW seem to hold good money compared to Fords but i would say the Mondeo is as good as the VW.Its a million miles away from the old shaped Mondeo Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I'm wondering about replacing the Sharan with a Mondeo Estate TDCi. Went to a customer that runs a lot of them and he reckons it's a really good car, but the injectors have a 60k life on them. Still not sure what to go for - Alhambra Tdi, Passat Tdi (bit pricey), Mondeo TDCi or Touran (very pricey). Budget of Quote
Smilge Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 The only real problem to watch out for is a flashing glow plug light and a flat spot around 1800 to 2000 RPM. The flat spot is a known problem and many hours have been spent trying to sort it. The flashing glow plug light was fuel contam caused by bearings in Injection pump failing and contaminating the fuel. Apparently this has now been sorted. Quote
