Keithb Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I've had an intermittent problem with my 2003 TDi 115 Auto going into Limp mode. Initially it was under heavy load, such as 5 up with a caravan. The problem became worse until it was happening with just me in the car and no load. Tried Ecotek power boost, replaced the MAF (well it's done 70K so must be due for replacement) still no cure. On the advice of others I booked it into Universal Turbos at Ringwood and they seem to have cured it! - New Cat and back pipe. Now I haven't given it a test under load but am wondering if I knackered the Cat by switching the ignition off and on whilst driving to reset the ECU and get out of limp mode. I guess this could have delivered unburnt diesel to the Cat. Maybe the underlying cause is still there. Anyway for those with this problem, there's another possible cause to check. As well as vacuum pipes, Turbo VNT, MAF, brake pedal switch, TMAP etc. I'll know if it's properly cured when I take it to the Alps this summer!! Keith Quote
Smilge Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Thanks Keith .... all useful info mate. My problem was the Turbo boost control solenoid (N75 valve) that I inadvertently broke one of the pipes off. Quote
tiny Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I recently added a post about a knackered cat causing loss of power on a petrol. I was suprised how cheap they are now, if you look online you can find Cat's for as little as Quote
sanjsanj Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 why does the cat matter? only reason I can think of is maybe the lamda sensor would give wrong readings... :( Quote
maximus Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I've had this problem on a Suzuki Rascal van, it was petrol. It just got slower and slower as the cat got more blocked. Eventually it just wouldn't go, so a new cat was fitted, Suzuki price Quote
Guest HENRYGB Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I had a loss of power inmy 1.9tdi auto when it was going up hill. I had a few dealerships look at it and it turns out it was a faulty fuel pump but no diagnostic read picked this up. regardsHENRYGB Quote
whitty Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 what did universal turbos do to repair it out of interest ? Quote
