Smilge Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 You're not having much luck with this car mate! ........ had to laugh at your "IM ABSOLUTLEY FUMING NOW" ...... was that intentional? Was the smell electrical burning? ....... glad you and the family are ok but I would get everyone including yourself checked out at the docs mate as you cant be to careful breathing in PTFE fumes if it was electrical. gregers Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 ok received a phone call this evening from the dealers, apparently they have done numerous checks and CANNOT SEEM TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM,they said there seems to be some sort of vent pipe that disappears into the chassis in the area where the smoke was coming from, and have suggested it may have been excess coolant that had somehow pooled in that area and was burning off????.they have had it since friday afternoon and it didnt do when there drove it back and since, ive had a look at my tis and there does seem to be some sort of pipe sticking up from the booster(vertical),where does it go???INCIDENTLY when opening the car up for the mechanic to drive it back the smell had all but disappeared (SO WAS IT A BURNING SMELL??)and if not how is it possible for coolant to burn off and have the smoke enter the cabin?any help on this most welcome. NikpV Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 I thought that the vertical pipe which disappears into the sill from the booster heat was the air intake for the heater - possibly the fums were going back up it - there is a post here wh talks of this very thing Quote
gregers Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 YEP WOT A STAR cheers mate thats exactly the same probs as mine, ill let the dealer know that there could possible be a hole without a bung in?? least it puts my (tiny)mind at rest that its doesn't seem to be a major electrical fault. Smilge Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Nik ..... I think this topic needs pinning on the grounds of safety and if you weren't aware of it then it could be worrying when it did happen. I'm not happy about smoke entering the cabin from the Booster heater inlet if thats what caused it ...... Perhaps a little more research is called for here? What do you think? Quote
gregers Posted May 22, 2007 Author Report Posted May 22, 2007 so after having the zaffy higher car for the past 10 days ive got me car back today,it spent the last couple of days at the ford main dealer having repairs carried out(havnt got the paper work yet)but according to the supplying dealer everything has been sorted out and they also had to replace the climate control panel ,they reckon its cost them in excess of Quote
