Tigger Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Having problems with it not wanting to engage more than it will! When it is switched on you press set and the light on the dash just goes out yet every once in a while it will engage and stay on. any info? Thanks Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Check you brake light switch - if it's malfunctioning, the cruise computer will think you are braking and automatically disconnect the cruise control. This sounds like an electrical issue as you have a working cruise lamp on the dashboard. Also check the clutch switch for same reason.Good luck. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 And the clutch switch...same effect. Assume your speedo is working OK? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Just thought - don't just check the brake pedal switch - check that both brake lights are working too. Strange thing these electrics on modern cars..... Quote
Tigger Posted January 4, 2004 Author Report Posted January 4, 2004 Will do the above. Yes the speedo is working! Although the clutch is good and gear change precise. I still feel it is a little harsh and a slight clunk at times. My old galaxy with 80000 on the clock just seemed a little smoother. But then again only 90bh instead of 130. So not so much power to transmit to the road!#Also if you need to take your car in for warranty work to a Ford garage you did not purchase the car from. What do you need to confirm the warranty work to be done? E.g. just the reg documents etc? Quote
Guest ianock Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Shouldn't need anything mate, dealer will enter VIN plate details into computer & build/warranty dates will be shown. Might be worth checking the fuse(number 2 from memory, once you get that stupid clear plastic cover off!)as I have come across this a few times in the past but dont too in depth if it's still under warranty. Dave-G Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Tigger,You probably need to show that it has been serviced in accordance with their service shedule,or at least that it's been to A ford dealer for its "alledged" services :) Quote
asimons Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 If the brake or clutch switch were not working, it would disengage the automatic speed control, but would not turn off the light on the dash which stays on as long at the slider switch is in the "on" position regardless of whether it is engaged (itself a bone of contention). Assuming you're not inadvertently knocking the switch to the OFF position, sounds like a wiring or switch fault. Quote
Guest Nobby Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Although my cruise is intermittent -no I haven't checked the pedal switches for adjustment, should I have a light on the dash? I've never seen one lit even when the cruise is behaving!! Whereabouts is the light?? Thanks Nobby :) Quote
iainkirk Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Most Galaxies with cruise don't seem to have the light ACTIVATED on the speedo to show that the cruise is engaged....even though the light is actually there!!! It would be useful, wouldn't it!!!! Quote
