Having just changed my pc from XP to Vista (not through choice) im having big problems trying to get my printer to work.

I gues its a driver problem as the install disks dont mention Vista.

Ive been on the Lexmark website to try and download the new drivers but cant find anything about Vista.

Any help from someone who can make more sense of this than me please as i dont wanna have to by a new printer.

Am i correct to think that my camera will have the same problem ????

Hi Adrain

I am not a expert but has Vista not got the drivers?

I assume you have checked:

Start

Control Panel

Printers& Faxes

and right click on your printer

check the driver

Is it a USB?

if it usb, unplug printer, uninstall driver, reboot machine and then plug the printer in and should reconise the printer and (hopefully) install driver within Vista.

Good luck

well im not a computer expert but it does sound like a driver problem. I havn't seen the vista interface so cannot comment too much but from various items i have read the general concensus is that anything that was made before vista came will be 50/50 as regards working the best way would be to check with all the manufacturers of all the scanners, camera's,printers ect that you own to see if they have updated drivers to work on vista. If not chances are it wont work

Is it a new computer altogether or have you upgraded

Just a thought does vista not have a compatable program like xp to get older software to work or is that just for software itself and not things like printers ?

anyway good look hope you sort it

I had problems trying to get vista to find the drivers for my external hard drive even though it did not need drivers to run under vista.

The fix was quite simple! when you are asked to instal the drivers, make sure the location vista searches is the system drive (usually C), my computer was searching for the drivers in its default location of X(The DVD rom), once I changed the search location i had no more problems.

For some reason Vista does not seem to search the system drive when looking for drivers unless you manually set the search location to C
