Steveenduro Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Hi All.Just done a fuel filter change on a mk2 Tdi, and I'm leaking diesel onto the top of the filter cannister. I think it must be from the plastic insert where the O ring/s are.I only found one O ring on dismantling. Are there meant to be two of them? Thanks Quote
adrianf. Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) I changed my filter a few months ago and im sure there was only one O ringAre you 100% sure it didnt fall out when you put the pipe back onto the filter? Edited May 10, 2007 by adrianf Quote
Steveenduro Posted May 10, 2007 Author Report Posted May 10, 2007 Yes, it was in place. That will teach me not to replace it. Quote
tim-spam Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 There are 2 'O' rings - one blue and one black. Another possibility is the joint between the fuel hose and the rear connection to the tee-piece. If the spanner monkeys have installed the filter such that this section of hose is pulled too tightly, the rear pipe section of the tee-piece can develop a permanent bend, causing a slight leak. If this is the case, you will need a new tee-piece. Quote
