It is a sensor for the alarm system, sometimes if you have not got the interior sensors they will just be an empty shell. Being a GLX you should have global closure and interior motion sensors , best way to check is to alarm the car with the window open and 30 seconds after put your hand in through the open window.

So should it have some sort of cover on it?

I didn't realise that the car even had an alarm! My remote locking doesn't work so will the alarm arm when I lock the doors with the key?

Cheers,

Bob

actually it's the sensor for the remote locking, there should be another of them above the rear veiw mirror? the alarm sensors if fitted are on the B posts and yes it should have a cover on it!

I wonder if that is why my remote locking isn't working! Maybe a wire has been knocked or something.

could be? or most likely that the I/R remote system is/was a crap system! no range! and has to be in direct line of sight to get it to work! there are several posts on how to upgrade to a radio remote system which is a far better system or just get an after market alarm fitted and let that handle the remote locking?
