I have just bought a 2000 'X' 1.9TDi Zetec Galaxy. It is the new shape. I take delivery of it next week.

I have been doing some reading on the internet and have come to the conclusion that it should have a CD multichanger as standard. The car however is fitted with a single slot CD.

Does anyone know if this is correct or does it depend on what was ordered when the car was new.

The car also has an aerial mounted on the rear of the roof in the middle. It is a round plastic shape with a rectangular piece on the side?? What is the purpose of this aerial??

Great site by the way and I will be frequently popping back to see how everyone else's galaxy's are going.

Thanks for any help.

The zetec only has a 6000 cd as standard. it is multi-changer COMPATIBLE.

Several after market brands will fit it, I got an alpine fitted in my last zetec for

OR, you could go higher up the market and fit a Sony CDX-T70MX (6-Disc) CD/Mp3 Changer - I have one in my 2003 Ghia, fits nicely in storage box under offside rear window! <_<

I always thought the aerial on the roof was for the SatNav, as on mine the radio aerial is built in to offside rear window? Maybe someone else could confirm about the aerial?

Thanks for the replies.

In looking around this site I gathered that the radio aerial is on the OSR window - sort of triangular shape thin elements - which the car does have.

The dealer wasn't very helpful about the other aerial.

Could it be from a factory fit sat nav which has now been removed???

How can I tell if this is the case??

Thanks for the replys.

I havn't picked the car up yet but from what I remember it has the 6000 CD fitted.

There doesnt appear to be sat nav of any type fitted although this aerial is on the roof.

Hope I can get to the bottom of this one way or another.

Sounds like it may be a phone aerial from a previous owner/user. Your car will have had the single CD player fitted as standard - only the Ghia comes with radio/cassette and 6 CD-changer fitted in offside rear cubbyhole just inside the tailgate as standard. Make sure that you get the radio code when you collect it. If you go for an upgrade, remember that you need to get something done to power the aerial in the side window, otherwise radio reception could be dire!
