my b/f has just gone to change his details on his car insurance and has been told on his policy he can no longer drive another car not belonging to him even with the owners permission. He was told the government are now fazing it out and next year no one will be able to do it ......anyone else had this from an insurer

I had that on my old insurance, I wasn't allowed to drive anything else.

When my broker decided not to renew my policy with the insurer, despite taking the money from me, the policy I sorted out direct does allow me to drive someone else's car.

Both policies were Norwich Union.

i think thats the answer then, the insurance company's are probably trying to stop this where you insure fire and theft and can legally drive another car on third party cover, should imagine there only going to keep this benefit for those who are fully comp.

Just wondering, If I am insured fully comp and allow someone else to drive my car third party only, can I claim for the car on my fully comp policy or is my car lost as the person driving is third party only ?

I would have thought that the car would be lost as the person driving at the time of the accident was only covered 3rd party.

If you tell them of course
