After getting my fingers burnt with some ebay drop links which were creaky, noisy, horrible things, I decided to buy some OEM ones.

So went to Frauds yesterday only to be quoted

I wonder what Mk3 parts prices are like?

Remember that the 'old' Galaxy is mostly a VAG product - VAG parts are notoriously expensive. Hence the existence of GSF and others. You can often get 'genuine' parts in an OEM box, but, as always, care is needed.

Sorry, I have not priced them - mine are still OK (touches wood, kisses rabbit paw, pays lucky whore and helps her put her wooden leg back on).

The front links have gone twice on my 2002 tdi. Each time ford EMG in Cambridge did them, once under warranty and once I paid 140quid odd ! I did not have the time to do myself. Is it a relatively easy job to undertake with a bit of care and common sense ?

Ok OK, I've had a think but am having trouble with some of the acronyms used here..............

VAG - Volkswagen auto group probably

GSF - ?

OEM - ?

Please help out a newbie (aka: retard)

GSF - German Swedish & French - Pattern parts etc

OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer

VAG - Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft - It translates as Volkswagen Plc or similar - it means with share or stockholders.

But to you and me - VW Audi!!

Prices and what fits what.

Mk 1 Galaxies drop links have been superseded by the link from Pre 15th Oct 2001 Mk 2's.

For Post 15th Oct-2001 the links have been redesigned twice, with a new link introduced from 15th May 2004 and a second change at 15th Sept 2004 until end of production. Now all post 15th Oct 2001 cars are specified to use the later link.

Prices:

All Mk 1's and pre 15-10-2001 Mk2: Part No.1M21-5489-AA, FINIS 1141774
