Guest PLJ Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I want to get the cigarette lighter out of a Mondeo, not disable it, just remove it. Spend 2 hours this afternoon without any luck. Any ideas? Thanks Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Which Mondeo? Original shape, facelifted or the current Passat look-alike?Do you mean remove the complete lighter assembly from the dashboard? Quote
Guest PLJ Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 It is a P reg version, the body style proir to the latest "Passat" style, not the original Mondeo shape. I use this for spares and I want to get the lighter out to put into a "V" reg car we now have where the original lighter was removed for some reason. I want the lighter in the car to use a hands free car kit. (I could not find easily a switched power feed to connect the car kit to so I planned to pulg and unplug the connection into the cigarette lighter. Thanks Quote
Guest ianock Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Look inside the lighter socket & push in the 2 green tags(part of the illumination ring)with luck you can then pull out the socket from the illumination ring.Chances are though it will be difficult to remove(it's a very tight push fit)and will break the illumination ring. Not just saying this but rip out the old one with long nose pliers & fit a new one,I know it's costing money but think of the frustration/skint knuckles <_< Quote
