popeye2755 Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Hi all, posted about this a few years ago, and once again it seems that I can't get any tyres for my car! The tyres in question are Bridgestone 205/55R16C ER30C, and according to ATS and KwikFit, there are none available in the country until the middle of next month. Also, there are apparently no alternatives available in that direct size. 215's could be fitted, but the lease company are complaining about the cost of fitting 5 tyres when only 3 are needed. Main question is: Do any other Alhambra owners have the same trouble I have getting new bloody tyres for their cars??? Cheers Quote
mikeohope Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) Why do you want to change 5 if you only need 3? Edited April 26, 2007 by mikeohope Quote
popeye2755 Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 Because the Insurance company/lease company/manufacturer all advise that all tyres (including the spare) are exact same size. Quote
mikeohope Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) yeah but there are others who make the first size you quoted. doesn't have to be Bridgestone does it. I generally try to keep both fronts the same but not too worried if the rears are different manufacturers as long as they are reinforced. Edited April 26, 2007 by mikeohope Quote
popeye2755 Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 There are others who make the size quoted, but according to the tyre people, they aren't commercial rated tyres. Quote
mikeohope Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 what do you mean by commercially rated. Mine was an ex lease vehicle, previously owned by Hertz and they put Firestones on it which are fine. Quote
popeye2755 Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 Apparently the "C" rating dictates extra load. All of this info. is coming from ATS/KwikFit, apparently many people do not fit the correct tyres to their cars, due to the extra cost involved. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Do a search - there are tons of posts on tyres - the legalities and the best options. Quote

Their prices are usaually sky high, try to find and independent dealer but then your lease company probably won't let you beacuse they'll be on some sort of rebate I expect. On my last Car Kwik fit quoted over Quote
